Gurdwara Management

There is no overall organization responsible for all Gurdwaras in the UK or worldwide. Instead, the sangat (congregation) of each Gurdwara elects a Management Committee that oversees daily operations in accordance with the Sikh Code of Practice.
This committee also appoints the Granthi, custodian of the Guru Granth Sahib Ji. Sikhism has no priests, as they were abolished by Guru Gobind Singh Ji. Any Sikh may read the Guru Granth Sahib Ji in the Gurdwara or at home.
The current committee was elected in May 2018, with its term planned to end in May 2020. Due to Covid-19, no elections were held, and it was agreed the committee would remain until elections became feasible.
As of September 2021, no new committee has been appointed. Membership renewals have reopened for existing and new applicants.
The Trustees are overseeing the new membership process and aim to appoint a new committee by April/May 2022.
